Welcome Back to Term 2
I hope you all had a great holiday and are well into the swing of things as we are already almost two weeks completed for Term 2.
I would like to thank Mr Wilson for stepping in as Principal last week while I was on leave. Mr Wilson reported to me that it was a smooth start to the term and students were engaged and learning from day one.
As mentioned at the end of Term 1, we welcome back Mrs Coe to Banksia teaching Years 1 and 2 Technology, Prep D on Thursday and 3A on Friday.
At the start of this week we welcomed Mrs Coutts in the role of Deputy Principal for Years 2 and 3 replacing Mr Adsett from Term 1. Mrs Coutts joins us from Morayfield East SS where she was in the role of Deputy Principal. Mrs Coutts was the successful applicant from the process completed at the end of last term and has made an excellent start to her time at Banksia.
ANZAC Day Ceremony and March
Thank you to Mrs Haydon and Student Leaders for coordinating and running the school ANZAC Day Ceremony on Monday.
The ceremony was very well run and respectful to the occasion. I would like to thank all our invited guests that were in attendance and donated books for our Library. We received very positive feedback from our guests on the quality of the ceremony and how well the students represented the school.
I would also like to thank all the staff members and students for their participation in the Community March on Tuesday. It was great to see so many students and community members in attendance. Thank you also to the students that performed in the Marching Band and the Advanced Band for providing the music for the Ceremony.
As the weather is getting cooler it may be time to find those Banksia Beach SS jumpers, and make sure they are clean and clearly named. A reminder that the school jackets, plain maroon or grey jumpers and long pants are part of our school uniform.
Bribie Island Bulldogs hoodies and all other coloured jumpers and hoodies are not part of our Banksia Beach uniform.
If you are having any financial difficulties preventing the purchase of a school jumper, please contact the school office. We want all our students to feel like they belong to Team Banksia, especially in the cooler months.
The School Cross Country will be held next Tuesday May 2 (weather permitting). Parents and family members are invited to attend and support our students. Approximate start times are detailed below.
