Physical Education
Banksia Beach has a Physical Education Specialist teacher and Years 1-6 have one 30 minute lesson per week. These are designed to develop skills, fitness, strength, coordination and agility. Year 1 & 2 students that need more practice with their perceptual motor skills are given support by a sports teacher aide.
A Perceptual Motor Program is undertaken for one hour each week by Prep Year students to develop gross motor skills.
10-12 year old students can trial for interschool teams in various sports. These interschool teams compete in Gala Days through out the year.
The school athletics carnivals and the school cross country are held in Term 2.
Swimming Program
Year 4-6 students do a swimming program in Term 1 and Year 1-3 students do a swimming program in Term 4. Students participate in a Learn to Swim/Water Survival or Swim Skill Program appropriate to their level of water skill. The PE Specialist co-ordinates this program which takes place at the Bribie Island Aquatic Leisure Centre. Parents are notified by note of the cost and dates.
