Reflection on the Last Twelve Months: It is with a great deal of pleasure I look back on the last twelve months. I am so very proud to be the Principal of Banksia Beach State School. Our children have achieved and participated in many fantastic activities and we have celebrated the following:

Sporting:

·          Numerous premierships including joint Athletic winners,

·          Queensland Champion Touch team

·          Mr Stuart MacArthur named the Regional PE Teacher of the Year.

Complex Passwords for staff and students:

Our school network has undergone some recent changes. One of the key changes has been the network logon system. This now means that all students from Prep through to Year 7 (and teaching staff) now require a complex password to log onto the computer.  Prep to year 3 have class logons, while year 4 - 7 students have individual user names and passwords.

Two Minute Drop Off Pick up Zones

Parking around schools is limited and drivers have been parking in Two Minute zones, and No Stopping, Standing or Parking zones and bus stops. These actions are dangerous for children travelling to and from school. Some parents often park in driveways which results in calls from irate home-owners unable to get their cars in or out of their own driveways.

Smart Classrooms Regional Teachers Awards

Twenty-six teachers from across Queensland have been recognised for improving student learning opportunities through the use of information and communications technologies (ICT).

Education and Training Minister Rod Welford announced the Smart Classrooms Regional Teacher Award winners as part of World Teachers' Day celebrations (October 31).

Banksia Beach State School Year 7 teacher, Mr Michael Blackmore was one of the recipients of this prestigious award. Congratulations to Mr Blackmore for a well deserved award.

CARS ON THE SCHOOL GROUNDS

A reminder to parents that our school provides a ‘Drop Off’ and ‘Pick Up’ area for students with disabilities only.  Some Special Education parents have been issued with a school issued disabled permit to access this area.  This area is situated inside the school grounds and has been designed as a ‘Drop Off’ and ‘Pick Up’ area only.

UNAUTHORISED PICKUP OF CHILDREN

Parents are reminded that only a student’s parent or emergency contacts are to pick up students at the end of the day. Students who cannot find their parents at 3.00pm know to come to the office so that their parent can be rung.

Newsflash

Late Arrivals
Students arriving after the 9.00am bell are now required to report to the office, sign in and receive a late card which then must be given to the teacher upon arrival at the class. Any student who arrives late to class without a late card will be redirected to the office.
