Year 4 coding in the classroom
Year 4 students have been programming robots to help them do their maths. Students have been investigating coordinates by creating a map and programing a robot to navigate to destinations. The students wrote challenges for other teams to code a robot to follow until reaching the target destination.
Year 5 Robots in space
Year 5 have been investigating space in Science and Technology lessons. They studied the challenges of space travel and how robots would assist human exploration of the Moon, Mars and beyond. Students built and programmed robots to autonomously solve simulated space missions.

Year 6 Coding creations
This semester Year 6 students have explored coding with microprocessors. They have programmed their Micro:bit microprocessors to perform a range of functions including sending messages, composing music, detecting and reacting to temperature and light. Students were able to use the built in accelerometer to create a Paper, Scissor, Rock game which randomly displays an image on the LED screen when shaken.
QUT Robotics Fun Day
A reminder that the first free Robotics@QUT Family Fun Day for 2019 is happening next Saturday (22nd June) from 8:30am until 12pm at Moreton Downs State School. These sessions have previously been held at the University Campus at Caboolture but this year will be hosted by schools in the district. We are aiming to host one of the Robotics Fun Days at Banksia Beach State School later this year if you can’t get along to this one.
Bookings for sessions are available through https://robotics22062019.eventbrite.com/
