Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome
Welcome to this edition of our newsletter. This week our Banksia Beach State School community celebrates Education Week 2021. Education Week is a time to showcase the achievements of our students and the contribution our teachers make to creating dynamic learners for the future. At Banksia Beach State School, we have much to celebrate. Our excellence programs produce students with extremely high degrees of knowledge and skill in performing arts, sport and academics and the alignment of our A-E data and our NAPLAN results show that we enact the right work at the right time in our classrooms. We have a reputation for expecting high standards from our students and we achieve amazing results. This Friday, 28 October is also Teachers’ Day. Our teaching staff at Banksia Beach are extremely talented and work tirelessly to ensure all students are active, engaged learners. Many of our staff also spend a significant amount of their time away from school working to enrich our students lives further through extracurricular sport and cultural activities. Please take the time over this week to reflect upon and acknowledge the wonderful learning community we have.
Extracurricular Music and Sport
Last Friday, Banksia Beach State School participated in the first gala day of the term and all teams came away with fantastic results. Some games were hindered by the weather; however, our teams overcame the adverse conditions to win most of their games. The next gala day is scheduled for the Friday of Week 5 (5/11) and we wish our teams the best in the next round. On Thursday evening (28/11) our Advanced and Intermediate Bands will be competing at the 2021 Music Fest held at Ferny Grove State School. This will be the first opportunity for our Intermediate Band to compete at an eisteddfod and we wish all students the best. We also wish to thank our coaches and instrumental music staff for the time they have committed to preparing our students.
Book Fair
Our annual Book Fair begins next Monday, 1st November and continues until the 4th November in the school library. This is not only a great fundraiser for our school but an opportunity to purchase high quality books and stationary for Christmas gifts etc. The book fair will be open before and after school and eftpos will be available.
End of Year Events
As we enter the middle weeks of our term we are reminded that the actual end of the year is drawing closer and preparations are being made for various celebrations and activities. To keep informed of upcoming events, please ensure newsletters, emails and newsflashes are read. Teachers will also publish class related news to their online platforms and our social media page will post reminders. We have a variety of events coming up and want all of our community to be able to share in the festivities!
