Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Banksia Beach Annual Improvement Plan
This term we will be reviewing the progress of our Annual Implementation Plan which was submitted and approved at the beginning of the year. The three Improvement Priorities identified this year are:
- Quality teaching of reading and writing;
- Implementation of the Lyn Sharratt work ‘Clarity’ to improve individual student outcomes;
- To Achieve Personal Excellence, through School Community Partnerships and our Programs of Excellence.
I would like to thank the Banksia Beach staff for the great work they undertake each day to ensure that the priorities are being implemented, and for their cohesive approach in ensuring we achieve the vision of the Education Department of ‘Every Student Succeeding’.
Semester 1 Results
It was great to see the results of the Semester 1 report cards once they were released to parents. This data is being shared with staff, celebrating the great successes and discussing ways that the results can possibly improve.
Student Excellence on Show
Congratulations to the students who represented Banksia Beach at the District Athletics Carnival held in Caboolture last Thursday and Friday. Banksia Beach performed extremely well considering our team was without a few stars due to illness, finishing a close 2nd by only 10 points. We also had 13 students qualify for the Sunshine Coast District team. Thank you to Mr Macarthur, Mr Fern and Mrs McNeill for their time and dedication in ensuring our students were ready to compete at such a high standard.
On Tuesday our Advanced Band participated at the Sunshine Coast Junior Eisteddfod at Matthew Flinders’ College. The report from Mr Wilson was that the students performed extremely well, and he was able to see improvement from their last performance, which is great to see. The students were amazing, securing 2nd in a hotly contested competition.
Yesterday, our Advanced Choir also performed at the Sunshine Coast Junior Eisteddfod, their first competition in several years. The students performed beautifully scoring 85/100 and received positive, glowing feedback from the adjudicator.
Thank you to our Instrumental Music and Choral staff for their ongoing commitment in preparing the students to such a high standard.
