2 February 2023
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Welcome Back!
I would like to welcome back all our staff, students, parents and wider Banksia Community from the long break to start 2023.
A special welcome to all our Prep students joining us for their first year of school. I would also like to welcome our new families that have relocated to the local area and enrolled in our great school.
I hope everyone enjoyed a safe and relaxing break and are ready for another amazing year here at Banksia Beach. It has been great to see students already engaged in their learning and quickly back into the routine of the school day.
Recent Hot Weather
With the heatwave conditions currently happening here in the southeast of the state we are monitoring the temperature and humidity before each break.
If it is too hot for students to go out to play, we have alternative arrangements in place to keep the students and staff nice and cool out of the heat.
It is very important that students have their water bottles every day and they refill if necessary. It is also important that students have their correct school hats to help with sun protection.
School Arrival
Please ensure students are not arriving to school before 8.00am as supervision is not provided. If you require supervision before 8.00am please contact our out of school hours care provider Helping Hands on 0448080489.
If students are arriving from 8.00am – 8.30am they are to go to the undercover area near the hall to be supervised.
We are very fortunate that from 8.30am our Banksia Teachers open their classrooms for students to be able to get organised and settled for classes to start. Please understand that some teachers may be delayed from time to time due to meetings or family commitments.
Communication with Teachers
At Banksia we value open lines of communication between home and school through phone, email and the seesaw application.
If you are emailing or sending your class teacher a message, please be aware that we have advised teachers to not reply after 5.00pm and before 8.00am on weekdays and not to respond on weekends. This is to ensure that our Teachers can maintain a positive work/life balance and spend quality time with their families.
Teachers are also unable to respond to messages or email during teaching time as their attention is on providing engaging learning experiences for the entire class. If you require to get a message to your child throughout the day eg. Change of afternoon routine, please contact the school office directly on 3408 5333.
If you are collecting your child early, please come to the office to collect an early departure slip to take to the classroom. If your child is arriving late, please also sign them in through the office.
