We would like to thank the Australian Government for their support in contributing funding of $60 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate (PACER) program towards the travel expenses incurred.
Two weeks ago I had the privilege of joining a small group of Banksia Beach and Bribie Island students along with a few awesome teachers on an amazing trip to Canberra. Primarily our trip was focused around attending the ANZAC Day Dawn Service and March in front of the Australian War Memorial. It was a once in a lifetime and humbling experience.
The days after the march were filled with adventure! We enjoyed visits to the National Zoo and Aquarium where we saw frightening sharks and adorable penguins. We had a fabulously fun time at Questacon where we went on the Giant Drop which is an extremely steep slide and we visited the Australian Mint, Parliament House, Art Museum and the freezing cold Telstra Tower just to name a few. We finished our trip with a tour around Sydney which we all enjoyed greatly because there were several gelato stores near the incredible Sydney Opera House which we all thought was gorgeous.
After reflecting on such an amzing trip, it is important to me that we take the time to thank the RSL Sub Branch and our incrdible teachers including Mr Mayes and Miss Jill (and Mrs Mackay who couldn't make the trip) for making this awesome trip possible. If you get the opportunity, I would highly recommend you doing this trip in two years time!
