Walk Safely to School Day

Friday 20th May is ‘Walk Safely to School Day’.  We have been participating in this annual national event for a number of years and it is a great way to show our children (and remind ourselves) that there are great Travel Choices we can make when it comes to getting our children to school.

If you are new to our school, the process is pretty simple. We have three walking “buses” departing at 8.10am from three designated places.  Teachers will walk with students and parents from their ‘bus stop’ to our school where they will get a sticker and we will offer a piece of fruit to bus walkers.  The three “buses” depart from
Eagles Landing (865 metres from school)
Cosmos Park in Sunderland Drive (740 m)
Anchor Court (510m).

For the prep students, we will issue a brochure with ‘Park, Walk or Ride’ information which includes a map in the centre pages which shows the ‘bus stops’ and routes to school.  Spare maps are available at the office for new families.

This will be our main TravelChoice event for Term 2 and I encourage all of you to get involved.
Peter Hartshorn for the TravelChoice Committee.
