Acting Principal's Report

Welcome to the second edition of our newsletter for Term 4. Over the past weeks we have seen more successes for our Banksia Beach students. Last Monday, 23rd of October, our Beginner A, Intermediate A and Advanced Bands competed at the Prestige Music Fest, hosted by Iona College. Our Beginner Band A achieved a Gold Award in their section, our Intermediate A Band received a Gold Award and our Advanced Band achieved a Platinum Award. The adjudication spoke very highly of the ability of our students and the degree of technical difficulty the pieces demanded from such young musicians. Thank you to Mr O’Callahan, Mr Yates and Mrs Brittingham for your dedication to our students and your commitment to excellence.

Last weekend, students also represented our school at the Allschools Triathlon at Kawana. For many of our athletes, this is the first highly competitive race they compete in. All of our students raced well and their performances were of a high quality. Thank you Mr Fern for training and accompanying our students to this event and thank you to the parents who endured a very early start to make sure our competitors had the opportunity to race!

This weekend our Touch Football teams compete at the Allschools Touch Football Carnival. Students have been training consistently over the past months to produce quality teams and Mr MacArthur is to be congratulated for producing two very high class sides! All the best for this weekend!

On the 29th and 30th of November, Banksia Beach State School will be holding the Annual “Spirit of Banksia” Nights. These nights will showcase our performing arts, sports and academic achievements for 2017 as well as provide some great entertainment and a spectacular light show!

The next few weeks of this term will be very busy ones, with many events and activities celebrating and concluding our year. I look forward to seeing many of you at these events and sharing the pride and appreciation we have for our students and the wonderful opportunities our school affords them!
