Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

Another busy fortnight where we celebrate extraordinary outcomes by our students led by a wonderful staff.

Advanced Choir

This week our choir travels to the Conservatorium where they will compete for the honour of being the State’s Most Outstanding Choir.  They already have been honoured by being one of the State’s best five choirs.  A wonderful achievement and the highest result they have ever achieved.  Congratulations to Mr Henson and Mr O’Callaghan.  Due to a tragedy in Mr Henson’s family, Mr O’Callaghan has taken the choir for the last fortnight and will conduct them in the final. Congratulations also to our amazing Mr Shane White who accompanies them so beautifully.

Rugby League

This Friday we have both our under 10’s and under12 Rugby League boys competing for a spot in the South East Queensland Final to be held at Suncorp.  The under 10’s play Albany Creek State School and the under 12’s play Ashgrove SS.  Congratulations to Mr McInerney, Mr Blackmore and Mr Barraud.  I know the boys will do our school proud.

Successful Gala Days!

More success!  Congratulations to our Cricket, Netball and Touch Football teams who were undefeated at the District Gala Days.  Thank you to Mrs McNeill, Mr Hawthorne and Mr MacArthur for again giving up so much lunch time to ensure our students perform at a high level.  We are so very fortunate to have such an amazing staff who give so freely to ensure your child can experience so much success.

Parents & Citizen Association

We are so fortunate to have a wonderful group of hard working parents who give up so much time to support all students.  This group have a lot of fun and enjoyment.  They also have a great sense of accomplishment knowing that their hard work is providing extra resources and activities for every child.  We would love more volunteers to join this great group.  If every parent gave even two hours a week the effort by our small group would lessen and we would achieve so much more.  If you are interested in being involved please email your name and number to

School Opinion Survey

The School Opinion Survey is undertaken each year by the department’s State Schools Division to obtain the opinions of parents/caregivers, students and staff about important aspects of schooling. This survey is designed to help schools identify what they do well and what they can improve.  This week you will receive a unique password and code to log in and complete the survey.  Please complete by August 25.  We value your thoughts.

Farewell Mr Hartshorn

Just a reminder Mr Hartshorn’s farewell assembly is planned for August 24 commencing at 1.45pm in the hall.  It will be a special day to acknowledge nearly 10 years of Peter giving to Banksia.

Let’s Have a Great Week
