Principal's Report

20/07/2015
Dear Parents,

Welcome back to Semester 2.  We have had a very settled start to our term and I thank all parents who have ensured your child is on time and at school every day when he/she is well.

Staff Changes
Mrs Kerran Nicholson has taken on the role of Master Teacher, working with Mrs Sandy Hobson as a wonderful pedagogical resource for all staff.  Miss Kieran McIlveen is Acting Deputy Principal Yr2/3.  Mrs Kellie McDonald joins our staff on 5C, Mrs Joanne McNeill is on 4D and Mrs Rachel Kippen re-joins our staff after a number of years in China; co teaching with Mrs Jess Thorburn.  I know our wonderful community will welcome these new people to their new roles.

Report Cards
All students should have taken their report card home this week.  Next week we offer you the opportunity of meeting with your classroom teacher to discuss your child’s last Semester’s achievements and to set goals for Semester 2.

AFL Grand Final
As previously celebrated, our boys have made the State Final of the AFL to be played at the Gabba on Tuesday July 28 commencing at 12:45pm.  We are taking two buses of students and children in Year 5/6 will be able to apply for one of those seats.  Notes home this week.  Many parents have also asked if they can attend.  We will be putting on one 57 seater coach.  Bus tickets are $10.  Ring school to obtain a number and then payment must be made at the office to secure a place.  The two school buses for students will be free paid for by our Sausage sizzle profits.  Thank you to our dedicated P&C who run this every week.

Maryborough Music Conference
Congratulations to our Advanced Concert Band and Big Band who attended the Maryborough Music Conference and performed for over 300 music teachers and professional musicians.  The children performed brilliantly and received a standing ovation.  Good luck to the students who this week will perform in the Brisbane City Band Festival in the Queen Street Mall near the Myer Centre on Wednesday July 22 at 11:45am.

Dance Troupe
Good luck to our Dance Troupe led by Ms Xanthe Mastriogiannis who will compete in the Ormiston Eisteddfod on Saturday.  As per usual so many extra activities available for students.

Liam Coombes
Congratulations to Liam who competed in the State Cross Country on the weekend as part of the Sunshine Coast Regional Team.  Liam was selected to compete after coming 5th in the Regional competition.

Please find in this newsletter a term planner to ensure you are kept as well informed as possible with upcoming events.  Yes, it is a very, very busy term!
