Principal's Report

24/06/2015
Dear Parents,
We have had a very successful term for all of our teams!
Our Concert Band is the QYMA Champion, Junior Choir is the QYMA Champion, and Senior Choir is the QYMA Champion.  Rugby League Development Cup boys are undefeated, have won Regional Championship and are playing next term in the State Final rounds. AFL boys are in the State Final at the Gabba on July 28.  These achievements don’t happen by chance, they happen because we have an amazing Banksia spirit which is shared by talented staff, supportive parents and fabulous students.  Congratulations to all involved and I look forward to sharing next term’s journey with these groups!

Report Cards
At Banksia we issue our reports in the first week of Semester 2 to ensure when you have your parent/ teacher interview in week 2 the report is very current.  All reports will have parent interview required as we believe it is vital regardless of your child’s achievements that you spend some time discussing with your teacher’s child what are the new goals for your child.

Athletics Carnivals
Thanks to Mr Mac and Mrs Bradford for fantastic organisation of our carnivals.  Thank you to our groundsman for preparing the grounds so well and all staff for their supervision.  Thank you also to the many parents who came to support our students, it was certainly a wonderful and supportive environment.

Concert Band Travelling to Maryborough
On the last Saturday of the holidays the Advanced Concert Band will be travelling to Maryborough to perform at the Maryborough Music Conference.  Over 800 teachers from across Australia will attend this conference.  There will also be guest conductors and speakers including James Morrison and Dr Bruce Pearson (Author of the books used to teach instrumental music world wide) present.  The students will perform and Mr O’Callaghan will then speak about our program.  We are the only school invited to attend this prestigious event and I congratulate Mr O’Callaghan and our hard working students.  I look forward to celebrating this wonderful event with our students.
Gold Assemblies
Congratulations to the 99% of students who received a Gold Award.  That figure is quite extraordinary!  We are so fortunate to have such wonderful students who follow the rules and are actively engaged in their classrooms.  This is one of the main reasons we are able to offer so many other extracurricular opportunities for our students.  Thank you also to our parents who support our behaviour management program.

Have a wonderful and safe holiday.  Rugby League and AFL boys are to be wrapped in bubble wrap and kept indoors!
I look forward to sharing all the wonderful events and daily progress of your students in term 3
Regards
Mrs Jacqui King
