PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Dear Parents,

This term is certainly flying by with so many varied and different activities to celebrate.

Farewell to Long Term Employees of the P&C
This week we see our long term employees of the P&C Amanda Waters, Ann Colston and Marney Kellogg leave their positions.  I would like to thank all three ladies for their service to our school.  They have always worked so very hard for the students of our school.  No matter what the occasion Amanda was inevitably the first there and the last to leave.  They have over seen fetes and many fund raising occasions ensuring all students were given the best possible resources. Their attitude has always been, “whatever it takes”.  I thank them on our school’s behalf for their exceptional service.  We will be saying farewell at a function to be held at Kai Café and Restaurant on June 21 commencing at 5:00pm.  The cost is $10 to be paid on the day.  Please let the office know if you will be attending to assist with catering.

Fanfare
Last week four ensembles from our school participated in Fanfare.  Fanfare is the state-wide festival of bands and orchestras from Queensland state schools.

This year's program will see over 27,500 instrumental music students from more than 420 schools participating in Fanfare 2016.  Over 980 ensembles will perform in the regional festivals to be held across 48 regional centres.

Our String Ensemble performed incredibly well for their first performance and were awarded a Bronze Award in Division 2.

Our Intermediate Band performed incredibly well and were awarded a Gold Award in Division 2.

Our Big Band and Advanced Bands performed beautifully to receive Gold Awards in Division 1.

All ensembles from across the North Coast Region which stretches from Maryborough to Bray Park were adjudicated and the six best ensembles were invited back for the Final which is to be held on June 15 at 11:30am at our school.  I am very pleased to announce that our Big Band, Advanced Concert Band and Intermediate Concert Band are in the final six.  Congratulations to Mr O’Callaghan and all who were involved.  Hair Braiders - we would love you to be at the library at 8:00am for round 2!  Everyone is welcome to attend this fabulous event.

Uniforms
As the weather cools down I have noticed a number of children not in full uniform.  Our winter uniform is in the same colours as our normal uniform.  Maroon, grey or official school jumpers are the only winter uniforms.  Long grey pants or grey tights are also permissible.  We believe if we are not looking our best it is difficult to do our best.  Please ensure your child is in full school uniform each and every day.  On Fridays house polos and representative shirts are allowed to be worn.

Athletics’ Carnivals
Next week on Tuesday and Thursday we will be hosting our Athletics’ Carnivals.  These are always a great celebration of team work, being active and participating.  Come and enjoy two wonderful days.  If it is raining we will reschedule.

Let’s Have a Great Week!
Regards
Mrs Jacqui King
