Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

Welcome to our first electronic newsletter. This is another step to ensure our communication lines are further strengthened. Also remember to check our twitter feed @BanksiaBeachSS for regular updates and the latest exciting events. If you do not have a twitter account simply go to our website and scroll to the bottom to view the feed. I always try to answer your queries, however I don’t have an alarm on it, so it’s when I check in several times during the day. Banksia Beach State School does not have a Facebook page and any information you access on Facebook about our school has no endorsement from Banksia Beach State School and very likely is not correct.

Queensland Youth Music Awards

Congratulations to Mr O’Callaghan and our Advanced Band for a wonderful performance at the Queensland Youth Music Awards held in Brisbane this week. The Band was named Champion Primary Concert Band for the fourth consecutive year.  A wonderful achievement.  Mr O’Callaghan sets an amazing standard and our clever students rise to this standard every time.

Gala Days

Unfortunately our second Gala Day has been cancelled due to the weather forecast. Bus fares that were paid will be reimbursed.  Congratulations to all teams; we had a very successful short season. The Rugby League Senior Boys now head into the next round of the Development Cup. They will play Buderim Mountain in the semi–final of the Sunshine Coast Cup.

Congratulations to our AFL teams who had a fabulous day at the Q Cup.  Boys made the final and performed very well.  The girls also performed very well against a much bigger opposition. Thank you Mr Hawthorne, Mr Blackmore and Mr MacArthur for giving so much time to these students.

Every Day Matters

Just a reminder that we need your child at school every day they are well.  Holidays are great during holiday times and Birthdays are best celebrated at school with friends.

Independent Public School Conference

Monday and Tuesday of next week is the IPS conference in Brisbane. I am the President of the IPS Alliance and I look forward to working with the leaders of the 250 Independent Public Schools. Mrs Weaver will also be attending the conference.  I look forward to coming back and sharing the learnings from the amazing guest speakers to ensure we are always improving the learning opportunities for every student.  Several of our Prep students will also be featured doing “The Dobees.”
