Principal's Report

8/03/2016
Dear Parents,

Another busy fortnight has disappeared and we are now into our final two weeks!

Australia’s Chief Scientist Dr Finkel’s visit
We were very excited to have Dr Alan Finkel, Australia’s Chief Scientist, visit our school and see our young scientists at work.  Dr Finkel complimented the teachers and students on their fantastic science skills, behaviour and presentation.

Achievement Badges
Please find in this newsletter the criteria that sits around the achievement of our badges.  We will distribute to each classroom an A3 size poster and badge forms which children need to fill in to achieve their badges.  These forms then come to the office and Mr Hartshorn distributes the badges at the next possible assembly.  A link is also available on our website.

Parent Groups
This week we held our first parent group meetings.  Formation of these groups was discussed at our Parent Information Night at the beginning of the year.  It was wonderful to meet and discuss with parents their wish, their star and any questions.  The meetings run for an hour and are held jointly at night and also during the day.  Come along and help us to improve communication across the school.

Easter Egg Raffle
This year Pak and our Student Council are running our monster Easter Raffle. Donations of eggs are gratefully received.   All funds raised will continue to air condition the school;  a double classroom costs approximately $5 000.  The Easter Raffle will be drawn at the Years 4-6 on the last Tuesday assembly and P-3 at the Easter Hat parade on the last Wednesday.

P&C AGM
As previously advertised our P&C AGM will be held on Tuesday March 15 at 6:00pm in the library.  If you would like to register to be a member of our P&C please collect a form from the office.

Year 6 Camp
Next week our Year 6 students head off for a fun filled three days at Mapleton Camp.  There are many schools that no longer offer camps as having staff to volunteer becomes too difficult.  Thank you sincerely to the following staff who are giving up the comforts of home to ensure our students have an amazing time:  Mrs McEwen, Mr McInerney, Mr Davies, Mr Blackmore, Mr Hobson, Mrs Gudenswager, Pak Briggs, Mr MacArthur, Mrs Nicholson, Mrs Cupitt and our chaplain, Mrs Marsh.  Thank you also to Mr Hartshorn and Mrs Funnell who are also spending Thursday with the students.

Have a great week!
Regards
Mrs Jacqui King
