Use of Computers in Learning

E-mail Print PDF

An extensive Information Communication Technology (ICT) program is offered to all students at Banksia Beach State School. In 2006, the school established its first ICT Enhanced Learning Classrooms with interactive whiteboard and specialised furniture incorporating computers in desks as a trial to extend the integration of ICT into classroom learning. Students and staff alike discovered the benefits of ICT as an integral part of their learning, a tool to assist them in achieving their learning outcomes.

In 2007 we expanded out support for student learning through the use of wireless laptops. The core purpose of this was to enhance student learning by making ICT an integral part of the learning process. Students across a range of classes are able to benefit from the portability of these curriculum learning tools.

Our junior classes are also supported through a range of software and hardware tools. Interactive Whiteboards are used to provide visual feedback to student learning. Students are actively engaged in their own learning via a range of interactive software applications. Staff at Banksia are actively using a range of multimedia resources supported by the interactive whiteboards to make student learning both engaging, supportive and fun. They have become an integral part of student learning.

In 2008 we have added additional Interactive Whiteboards in year 1, 3, 5 and 6. Senior students also have access to an additonal interactive whiteboard in the senior lab.
