Dear Parents,Welcome to 2010. It is with a great deal of pleasure I welcome back our returning families and wish our new families a wonderful time with Banksia Beach State School. I would also like to extend a very warm welcome to all staff and volunteers helpers on the commencement of the 2010 school year.
It was fantastic to stand at the front of our school this week and see all our students so beautifully dressed for school. We are truly lucky to have such a special group of students attending our school.
Many thanks to cleaning, grounds staff, teacher aides and admin staff for helping to get our school off to a great start for the 2010 school year.
Staffing: Welcome to new staff Mrs Jessica Young (Year 2), Mrs Julianne Bluhdorn (Year 3) and Mr Grahame Ashton (Instrumental Music).
Class Arrangements: As in previous years enrolments as of Day 8 of schooling are used to calculate our final staffing allocation for the year. Our current enrolments indicate that we will be entitled to a new teacher on Day 8. This will mean a change for some students in Years 4, 5 and 6. However the change will mean class numbers in Years 4, 5 and 6 will decrease to 25 and 26. I know change after the settling in period is difficult but be reassured that your child’s individual needs will be taken into consideration before any move is made. If your child is to be affected, a member of the administration team will discuss your child’s placement and the reasons behind this move. These conversations will occur early next week if we are allocated a 36th classroom teacher.
P&C News: Our P&C Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday 24th February at 6.30pm in the staff room. President Nicky Clarke and the Executive Officers extend a warm welcome to parents of our school to attend this meeting. Nominations for office bearers for 2010 are now being called. Nomination forms are available from the canteen and must be returned to the sealed box at the canteen by 23 February 2010. Involvement in the P&C is a great way to meet new people and be actively supportive of our school.
Canteen Convenor’s Position
Thank you to Mrs Amanda Waters for acting as our canteen convenor. This position will be advertised in our next newsletter and a position description will be available from the office.
Performance Hall
Our beautiful hall is nearing completion and I am looking forward to celebrating assemblies and all of our special occasions with you in this wonderful facility.
We have so many exciting events planned, sporting cultural and academic. Encourage your students to take every opportunity to make the most of every day.
