Dear Parents,Welcome back to a very busy Term 4. I hope you had a wonderful and relaxing holiday.
This term is well packed with Musical, Carols by Torchlight, Year 7 Graduation, Gold Assemblies and All Schools Touch Championships to name but a few! Please keep aware of upcoming dates to ensure you don’t miss out on anything.
Bribie Island RSL Sub Branch Schools Public Speaking Competition.
On Sunday our school competed in the Bribie Island RSL Sub Branch Public Speaking Competition. Our team consisted of Sarah Neville, Jade Carnall, April Ross, Charlton Lansley, Samantha Gibson and Chloe Houston (reserve). Once again our children worked incredibly hard to ensure they performed to the highest standard. Congratulations to all the team as we were named the champion school. A special congratulations to April Ross who came third, Charlton Lansley who came second and Samantha Gibson who was named the champion speaker of the competition. Thank you also to Mrs Tanner and Mrs Blackmore who helped train the students. As I always say to our students; Banksia students don’t just turn up to make up the numbers; we are there well prepared and determined to be the best we can be. I was very proud, once again, of our school.
Year 6 Camp
Thank you sincerely to our staff Mr Davies, Mr Hartshorn, Miss Nunn, Mr McInerney, Mrs Hope-Smith, Miss McLeod, Mrs Coulston, Bu Kaeser, Mr MacArthur, Mr Carter and Mrs Hogan for providing this opportunity for our students. Many schools are no longer offering camps due to the hard work and the 24 hour supervision required. Camps are not a right but a privilege and I thank our staff for offering this privilege to our students. The camp was a great success with all children reaching high behavioural standards.
Triathlon
I know we are so fortunate at Banksia Beach because of the opportunities our students are offered and of course the way our students then take up these great challenges. On Sunday our school is entering eleven teams in the triathlon. Eight of our staff are competing with twenty five students to make up this strong Banksia contingent. It is also a wonderful reflection of our healthy lifestyle. I look forward to cheering all students and staff over the line!
Musical
We will be presenting our musical “Danger Kids” on November 4th and 5th. Tickets will go on sale shortly. This is always a great celebration of the talent which exists at our school. The concert will also feature our Concert Band, String Ensemble and Competition Choir. Book your seat to see why Banksia Beach State School is considered to have one of the best music programmes in the state. Thanks to our great production team of Mrs Hobson, Mrs Weaver, Mrs Mastrogiannis. Miss Conroy, Mrs Hanlon, Mrs Hethrington, Mr White, Ms Robertson and Bu Kaeser.
Let’s Have a Great Week!
Regards
Mrs Jacqui King
Principal
