Dear Parents,
Book Week
This week saw our school celebrate Book Week and National Reading Day (Wednesday 2 September). Students in the Junior School participated in shared reading of the Book of the Year – Early Childhood “How to Heal a Broken Wing” and a wonderful parade of children on safari. Thank you to the many parents who came along to share this experience. I am always so pleased to see how many parents support the activities we have here at school. The Senior School students invited a “significant adult” to come to school to read with them. Thanks to all of those very special “significant adults” for your support.
Building Education Revolution
Building has begun in earnest! The areas have been cleared and the concrete slab for the junior library was poured on Wednesday. Please remember that the fenced off areas are construction sites and as such, we civilians are not permitted inside these areas. Any property that finds its way into the construction site (eg balls) will remain there until someone from the site retrieves it.
Lost Property
We have accumulated a considerable amount of lost property this term. At the end of term unnamed items will be washed and donated to charity. Parents and students are reminded to check for any missing items in the lost property box beside the canteen.
Parliament House Visit
Each year, local Members of Parliament invite schools to visit Parliament House. On Wednesday, our School Captains, accompanied by Deputy Principal Mr Carter, visited Parliament House. They experienced Question Time and had a guided tour of Parliament House with Mrs Sullivan. Once again, our School Captains represented our school with pride.
Dog on school grounds
For Workplace Health and Safety reasons, dogs are not permitted on the school grounds.
Skateboards, Scooters and Ripsticks
Please note that scooters, skateboards and ripsticks are banned at school and students are not to bring them to school. This is a very dangerous mode of travel at our peak drop off and pick up times.
Have a terrific week!
Regards
Maree Mortlock
Acting Principal.
