Dear Parents,

Our school actively promotes the values of persistence, high performance and achieving the very best.
This was very evident this week.
Vietnam Veteran’s Day
Our school captains attended and laid a wreath at the service for Vietnam Veteran’s day. Liam Hawkins was invited to play “The Last Post and “Reveille”. These are two very difficult songs. Liam showed great persistence, dedication and determination to stand in front of a very large crowd and perform both pieces to a very high standard. Great performances don’t happen because we wish for them. They happen because we use every ounce of talent given to us, we work incredibly hard and we are determined never to give up until we succeed at the highest level. I was very proud to have Liam wear our uniform.
District Athletics
I have the best job! I get to go and watch everyone else working really hard, doing their best and then I get to celebrate!!
Congratulations to Mr MacArthur, Mr Hartshorn and Mr Davies for preparing our athletics team. Again we had some stand out performers. A special mention to Brittney Howe & Helen Wilson who were named age champions. We also had some excellent results in the relays; not because we necessarily had the fastest runners, but because we had the best teamwork. I was so proud of all of our team, especially those students who were suffering from illness or injury but kept persisting. Congratulations to the following students who have made the Caboolture District Athletics team: Brandon Day, Meghan Graham, Brittney Howe, Helen Williams, Taylah Heaton and Robyn Johnstone. The DoBe’s were certainly on show “Do your best, be your best and the children certainly looked their best in their new athletics singlets. Thanks Mrs Mackay for the beautiful screen printing.
We came second overall. A great achievement considering we are in the rebuilding phase, having lost a large number of athletes to high school.
Building Education Revolution
We are starting! I am very excited to say our construction fence for the new hall (oval) and junior library (near admin block) went up this week. This means in the very near future we will start the construction of our buildings. Please remember these fences mean the area is strictly out of bounds. No climbing on fences and no retrieving of anything that goes over the fences. The Prep gate is now shut and we would ask all parents and students to use the main entrance until the construction fence is taken down.
Lost Property
Once again, we are accumulating a large amount of lost property. While we endeavour to return named items, at the end of the term we will be sorting and placing washed unnamed property in charity bins. Parents and students are reminded to check for any missing items in the box left near the canteen. I am sure some children must have five or six jumpers missing, not to mention hats!!
Prep Open Day
We had a wonderful Prep Open Day this week where I was very pleased to meet so many of our new students. Our school leaders were wonderful guides for our new parents and Emily, Brodie, Ruby and Callum gave a fantastic insight into everyday life in Prep. Thanks to Mr Hooper, our Concert Band, Mr White and our Competition Choir for a beautiful Concert. Thank you also to Sam and Amanda from our P&C for a really superb morning tea. If you know of anyone who is intending to enrol in Prep for 2010 please advise them to come to the office and book an interview time with Ms Mortlock.
Let’s Have a Great Week!
Regards
Jacqui King
Principal
