Dear Parents,This fortnight we again have a very busy agenda and I thank all who are involved with the following activities.
On Monday May 25, our Competition Choir conducted by Mr David White and accompanied by Miss Grace Liang will compete in the Queensland Music Youth Awards to be held at Aspley State High School commencing at 7.00pm. Thank you to Mr White, Mrs Weaver and Miss Liang for their dedication and commitment in ensuring we are a worthy entrant against the Brisbane state and private schools. The choir will also be performing at our open day and at our shopping centre visits.
We will celebrate Under 8’s Day on May 26. Students in Prep–Year 3 will receive a special invitation later this week.
Education Week, as previously advised, will be celebrated in many ways:
1. Concert band will officially open the Sunshine Coast Regional “Showcase Awards for Excellence” at Beerwah State High School on June 2.
2. We will be hosting an Open Day on June 3.
3.On June 4 our Band, String Ensemble and Competition Choir will perform at Banksia Beach Shopping Centre at 10.00am and Woolworths Shopping Centre at 12.00pm. Come along to support our students and take great pride in our school.
Prep 2010 – Enrolment Process
Thank you to parents who have contacted the school to provide preliminary advice about their child’s enrolment in our Prep program in 2010. We currently have approximately 50 prep enrolments already registered.
Is my child eligible to enrol in Prep in 2010?
In order to be enrolled in Prep in 2010, a child must turn 5 years of age between 1 July 2009 and 30 June 2010 (inclusive) ie., a child born 1 July 2004 to 30 June 2005 (inclusive). Please note that a Birth Certificate (original) or original Extract of Birth Certificate, or a certified copy (eg., by a Justice of the Peace) will be required. If your child is eligible to enrol please collect an information package and enrolment form from the office. We also seek your support to inform new, prospective parents of the need to contact the school if they have children eligible to enrol at this school in Prep in 2010.
We are planning on holding at least two information sessions for parents about the school, Prep, and the Early Years Curriculum in August. After these sessions parents will be invited to book an interview time with Ms Mortlock, Deputy Principal for Early Years, to finalise enrolment for 2010.
Mothers’ Day Stall
Thank you to our P&C for organising the wonderful Mothers’ Day stall. It was great to see the excited children purchasing a special gift for mum. Thank you also to the Schiefelbein family, Michelle Thompson and Amcal Bongaree for the donation of prizes for our raffle.
Australian Awards for Teaching Excellence
The Australian Awards for Teaching Excellencecelebrate Australia’s great teachers and schools. You may want to nominate a teacher or staff member in our school for an award this year.
