ANZAC Day
Thank you so very much to the 284 children and 18 staff members who marched on ANZAC Day. What a wonderful display for our school and a fantastic message to our men and women who have fought for our country. I was very proud of our beautiful presentation, performance and behaviour. We have had so many very positive messages from our Bribie Island community.
Congratulations also to our many students led by our School Captains who performed so beautifully at our own ANZAC Day service. Our band and choir performed to a very high standard. Well done children, Mr Hooper and Mr White.
NAPLAN
On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of next week our Year 3, 5 and 7 students will be sitting national tests in reading, writing and numeracy. Our students are well prepared. Please ensure your child has a good breakfast on each of these days and a good night’s sleep.
Cross Country
This week our fabulous District Cross Country team competed against twenty other schools across our district. Once again I was so proud of our students giving their very best for Banksia Beach State School. Congratulations to all students who participated. We came second overall and the following students have made the District team:
10 year old - Robyn John stone (1st), Alicia Brown–McGregor (5th)
11 year old - Chester Rees (1st), Hunter Burton (3rd), Bridgette Parker (4th).
Thank you and congratulations to our wonderful, dedicated coaches Mr MacArthur and Mr Hartshorn. We know our school is a great school because of our fantastic staff.
Showcase
This year at Education Queensland’s Showcase Awards for Excellence our Concert Band has been invited to open the awards. We are the only primary school in our region invited to attend. A great honour for these very talented and high performing students.
Open Day
To celebrate Education Week our school is holding two exciting events.
On Wednesday 3 June our school will be open for classroom visits from 9:00am. At 10.15am our Concert Band, Choirs, String and Jazz ensembles will perform in the large covered area. At 11.00am we ask you to enjoy a picnic lunch with your child/children in our beautiful grounds.
On Thursday 4 June our Concert Band, Ensemble and Competition Choir will perform at Banksia Beach Shopping Centre at 10:00am and at the Bribie Island Shopping Centre at 12.00pm.
Come and support our school and experience time at Banksia Beach.
Correct Details
This week your youngest child will receive a sealed envelope enclosing a printed form for each child in your family with all the details we currently have for contact. It is vital that these forms be checked, amendments made and the form returned to us. Please sign the bottom of the form to indicate that you have read and, if needed, adjusted any information.
