Dear Parents,

Thank you to the many parents who are helping to keep our school safe for all students by parking in the appropriate places before and after school. The rules are there to ensure we are able to have a safe pathway for all students and police will continue to patrol these areas.
Musical Performances
Our school prides itself on aspiring to excellence in all areas. We are fortunate at our school to have a very talented music team. This week I listened to our Concert Band, Competition Choir and our String Ensemble perform. Early next term we will be hearing each of these groups perform publicly. Congratulations to all members and their conductors Mr Hooper, Mr White and Ms Liang.
We have started auditions for 2009’s School Musical and will commence rehearsals in Week 10 on Tuesday after school. We will also be looking for some assistance again with sewing costumes and prop making. The cost of maintaining our Program is very expensive and we are after some great ideas to help contribute to the cost of buses for competitions, uniforms, additional music for our new Big Band, material for costumes and the list goes on and on!
If you have children involved in our Program and would like to be involved in shaping our Performing Arts Program please complete the form in this week’s newsletter and return it to the office.
Contact Details Update
It is vital that our office records about each student contain the absolute latest information on contact details. For instance in the event of an emergency, we need to know the correct phone number and person to contact. Likewise it is vital to have the latest residential information and other matters relating to court orders and access. Please contact our office staff to update any necessary information.
New Prep Building
On Wednesday of next week (weather permitting) we will have a new Prep building delivered and installed in our school near the P-3 precinct. This will be a wonderful asset for our school and we look forward to utilising this modern facility. The area will be fenced off until all work is completed.
Polling Booth – Election Day
We have been informed by the State Electoral Commission that Banksia Beach State School will be a polling booth for the Pumicestone electorate. The booths will be set up in the Prep classrooms. Our P&C will be holding a sausage sizzle as a fundraiser and welcome any helpers on the day. We would also welcome lots of hungry voters to purchase our scrumptious sausages.
Let’s Have a Great Week!!
Regards
Jacqui King
Principal
