Twenty-six teachers from across Queensland have been recognised for improving student
learning opportunities through the use of information and communications technologies (ICT).
Banksia Beach State School Year 7 teacher, Mr Michael Blackmore was one of the recipients of this prestigious award. Congratulations to Mr Blackmore for a well deserved award.
The Smart Classrooms Regional Teacher Awards recognises teachers who have made significant progress in making ICT integral to learning and who are committed to ongoing professional development.
An award is presented in each of Queensland's 26 districts. Winners are identified through local processes in each region which are managed by the Regional Technology Managers.
Each winner receives a $1500 professional development grant that can be used to attend conferences or courses that extend the teachers' understanding of applying ICT in education.
The Smart Classrooms Regional Teacher Awards are presented annually on World Teachers' Day. World Teachers' Day is marked internationally on October 5 but Queensland celebrates on the last Friday of October due to school holidays.
